Lessons
Hello. I’m happy to have started giving guitar and songwriting lessons.
If you've made it here you may have heard my music, or seen me play somewhere, seen an advert, or found out some other way. Either way, take a look and lets see if I'm the right person to help you learn more about using the guitar as an instrument, or using the guitar as a songwriting tool. Please get in touch for any more information.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Guitar Tuition
The guitar can be a frustrating instrument to get to grips with. At the beginning fingers hurt, hands get twisted and strings go out of tune. Or maybe you have some moves under your belt and want to expand more. From fingerpicking to rock riffs, I can help navigate these stages and open up the many paths that the instrument has to offer. Going from technique, theory, musicality, learning songs and everything else you need to form a nice connection to the guitar and a wider understanding of music. I’ve been teaching guitar and playing guitar at a professional level for over ten years now. My musical area lies in ambient / finger-style / pop styles, but I can show you paths into all areas such as rock, jazz, funk, country, blues and more. Lets get it going!
Songwriting Lessons
Songwriting is, of course, a completely subjective craft. What makes a good song good? How are lyrics written? What structure is best for a song? How long should it be? What style should a song be in? What’s a middle eight? All good questions! The answers aren’t exactly clear, but that’s where the mystery and fun of writing music comes into play.
As individual as it is, there are also some ground rules which can make things less confusing. Basic musical theory can be a key to making the songwriting process less frustrating and help point you in the right direction. I can help with ideas of how chords can fit together, or melody development, or lyrics, or guitar playing based ideas - all which can help develop your own songs.

The Lessons
I like to think I’m a patient and relaxed teacher. I always aim to cover something new at each lesson and try to keep expanding, whilst relating it to previous things which have been learned. All lessons are suited for your needs and constantly adaptable to what you want to learn.
I’m based in Berlin, Germany. Lessons currently take place at your place, or via Skype. All lessons are taught in English, but German is also possible.

About me:
I’m a UK musician and guitarist, living in Berlin. Since my early teens I’ve been driven by an irrational urge to make music. Growing up in Leeds, UK, I went on to study and complete a BA in Popular Music at the Leeds College of Music. I moved over to Berlin in late 2008 with my band to pursue further possibilities as a musician in Berlin and mainland Europe. Since then I have had the pleasure of performing all around Europe, the UK and northern America, most notably with my band The Pattern Theory, and with artists such as Tanita Tikaram and Emaline Delapaix. I continue a solo project under my own name, which see’s me writing, recording and producing my own songs. I also record, produce and mix for other artists and projects.
More about me can be found here on my website, which you are already on. |
